    Brian has had the honour of working with some of the finest musicians, producers, songwriters and audio engineers both in Barbados and Internationally. Brian is one half of the writing and production team for Bajan band ‘Kite’. 

    Kite has had great success - its music has featured on several TV Series on International TV networks, including: ABC Family Prime Time, CBS Prime Time, The N, Sony, MTV Overdrive, CBC (Canada), NBC, and Canal+.

    Kite's music has also featured in Hollywood productions like the film ‘The Stone Angel’ featuring academy award winner Ellyn Burstyn. 

    Since 2010 Brian has been producing and composing award winning audio for major brands and films in the Caribbean. 

  • Julian (JJ) Poulter

    Voice Actor, Music Composer, Creative Copy Writer

    Julian Poulter is a voice actor and vocalist and who has worked with international brands such as Mercedes Benz, GoDaddy, Amazon, Shell, CISCO, British Airways, ABB and HSBC as well as being the other half of the composing partnership of the Bajan band 'Kite', whose music has featured in both films and on Prime Time TV networks in the USA.

    Julian has worked as an announcer and news reader on radio and writes creative copy for Caribbean brands as well as co-composing music and lyrics for Shoestring Studios' ADDY® Award winning jingles.

     

  • Formed in 2009, Shoestring Studios is an award-winning boutique music production & sound design facility located on the island of Barbados in the Caribbean, run by Brian Marshall and Julian Poulter.

    Shoestring Studios’ credits include compositions featured on Prime Time USA TV networks in shows such as GhostWhisperer, 90210, Jericho and Lincoln Heights, plus ESPN® and movie trailers (The Stone Angel). We are also responsible for voiceovers, jingles, soundtracks and commercials for such multinational brands as ABB, Amazon, Arm, the BBC World Service, BNP Paribas, BP, British Airways, CISCO, Education USA, FLOW, GoDaddy, HSBC, Hallmark, MAERSK, Mercedes Benz, Opel, Republic Bank, RUBiS, Royal Bank of Canada, Sagicor, Shell, Sun General Insurance, UN Environment Programme, Virgin Atlantic and WIBISCO and the World Bank Group.

    Brian Marshall and Julian Poulter, both of whom have had successful and extensive professional music careers both within and outside the Caribbean, are the founders of Shoestring Studios. They have worked with acts such as The Cutting Crew, producers such as Jeremy Harding (Sean Paul), Younglord (Puff Daddy), Terry Brown (Rush, The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix) and Stuart Epps (Led Zeppelin, Elton John, Oasis). This experience has allowed them to create and record in multiple genres, spanning projects from film, TV and radio commercials.
