  • Netflix Original Series 'Outer Banks' Records ADR Session at Shoestring Studios for Season 2

  • Two stars of the hit Netflix show ‘Outer Banks’, John B (played by Chase Stokes) and Sarah Cameron (played by Madelyn Cline) were at Shoestring Studios for an automated dialogue recording session (ADR) for upcoming Season 2. We linked with sound editors in LA via Source Connect Pro. Chase, Madelyn and the Outer Banks team were great fun to work with. Oh, and Chase is a very funny man. We had the added bonus of getting a sneek peek what's happening in Season 2 - but we can't offer any spoiler alerts, sorry!

  • Shirley Biscuits 'Shirley Makes Me Happy' jingle Wins Silver at 2021 ADDY® AWARDS

    When WIBISCO needed a new sound for their Shirley Biscuits®, Virgo Communications called us. The trick was to compose something that worked across the Caribbean. We had to thread the needle of the things that make Shirley a Caribbean brand - from getting the beat right, the instrumentation, everything. The lyrics had to paint a picture of how and where Shirley Biscuits are enjoyed. So we wrote the lyrics, composed a hybrid of Soca, Dancehall and Pop from scratch so it could work across the region and brought in 2 different vocalists (Mahalia and Phlilp 7) to deliver the message. We then had to get the mix right so everyone from the length and breadth of the Caribbean would feel it. And it won Silver in the 2021 ADDY® Awards!

  • Global Ad Campaign - Arm

    Despite the global disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic – we still see a high level of interest from our international roster of clients. Recently, we we asked to record the voiceover for Global AI titan Arm for their new brand film 'Sparking The World's Potential'. We have been asked to work on a number of Arm projects over the years, and were especially excited to be chosen to provide 'the voice' of Arm, who are now very much at the cutting edge of global AI research and development. Interested in what's next for the folks that made the chips inside the device you're reading this on?   • 'The Captain' is back and the team grows!

    Some of you may be aware that our Production Director Brian had a stroke in July of 2020. Since then he has been working at his recovery with utter focus and good humour, and as a testament to just what a trooper he is, he made sure there was very little disruption to Shoestring Studios' day-to-day activities. Indeed, many of you may be hearing this news for the first time. To prove how determined he was, he was back in the studio a mere 3 weeks after he left hospital. This astounded many people, but not us. We're lucky to work with him and see what a determined person he is. He has continued to deliver on demanding projects, all the while handling an even more demanding rehabilitation schedule.

    Our new team member is Graham Johnson, an experienced and indefatigable engineer who is unfazed by pretty much anything, even centipedes. His abilities are rivalled only by his sense of humour, which makes even the most demanding projects seem all quite normal and fun. Clients find him exceptionally easy to work with and respect his can-do attitude.

    We snapped a recent pic of Brian back in the studio - just before giving him his morning coffee. We think we had about 5 seconds to give it to him... or else!
